On Halloween night, British singer-songwriter-musician Raye brought her My 21st Century Blues World Tour to a sold-out and spooky-looking Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.

Absolutely, aka Abby Keen aka Raye‘s sister, started the night and charmed the audience with her R&B-inflected pop.

Raye released her debut album My 21st Century Blues album as an independent artist earlier this year, after spending seven years with Polydor Records who withheld the release of her music. It’s safe to say that having complete control over her artistic vision was the best thing to happen to the 26-year-old as her record peaked at #2 in the UK Album Charts.

Flanked by her glamourous and costumed band, she opened her set with “Oscar Winning Tears”, “Hard Out There” and “The Thrill Is Gone”. The amazing vocalist gave a raw, unfiltered performance throughout the night and did not shy away from tough topics like her tracks “Ice Cream Man” and “Body Dysmorphia”.

Raye gave it all on stage and the audience got treated to an incredible and emotional experience that highlighted her immense talent. Raye has a few more shows in North America before she flies to Europe and Australia. Be sure to catch her show next time she’s in Canada!
