Taigenz shares brand new single, “Knock My Door” Featuring Marion Brunelle
Montreal-based hip-hop artist Taigenz effortlessly bridges the gap between his Cameroonian heritage and the North American urban landscape. Known for his sonic versatility, he moves fluidly through Trap, R&B, and Afro-beat genres.
His 2019 album Life Ain’t Free achieved international acclaim with singles like “Lemme Ball” and “Speak The Truth,” garnering over 100,000 streams globally.
Today, Taigenz teamed up with us, at Canadian Beats Media, to share his latest single, “Knock My Door,” which features Marion Brunelle. The single is from his upcoming album called Chop Life.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Taigenz. Pronounced “Tayg-enz”, a kid from Montreal, Canada (which I refer to as Muntree) also reppin’ my Cameroonian bloodline.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Knock My Door” is the first single of my upcoming project called “Chop Life”. It features vocals from the very talented Marion Brunelle and produced by Nueva Vista, who are both genius artists from Montreal as well.
This song is about purposely looking for trouble with your sneaky link while your main situation is out of the picture for a moment. Definitely a song to vibe and shake hips to.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
I look at life in a very nuanced way, and by doing that I’m able to get fresh ideas on how to approach songs that I feel may not have been typically explored by other artists.
It also helps that I have 5 languages in my head to constantly play around with while developing my lyrics. It just becomes a mental videogame and BOOM we got inspiration from all angles.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
I just got back from Buffalo, NY for my first-ever festival gig and the energy was FELT. Thank you to Music Is Art Fest for the opportunity.
At the moment, I wanna direct everyone to my website and join my newsletter for all future show announcements.
What’s your goal for 2024?
Exposing the people to my story and contributing to the Hip-Hop and Afro universes, starting with “Chop Life”.
