Kiinjo Drops Highly Anticipated New Single, “Make Me Feel”

Kiinjo, the disco house manifestation of renowned Canadian superproducer Grandtheft, is thrilled to release his enthralling new single, “Make Me Feel.”

Kiinjo is Grandtheft’s platform for letting his disco-house creativity shine. The project captures the essence of his rich musical past, offering an exhilarating blend of house drums, mesmerizing basslines, and looping vocals.

“Make Me Feel” is poised to be a significant addition to Kiinjo’s growing repertoire. The single embodies Kiinjo’s unique approach to house music—serving as a melting pot for his deep-rooted experiences in the Bloghaus era and his newfound focus on house music.

Having previously released crowd-pleasers like “Interplanetary,” “Right Here” b/w “Lundi,” and most recently “Ain’t 2 Proud” b/w “Set Me Free,” Kiinjo has consistently captured the attention of industry titans like Calvin Harris, Paco Osuna, and Martin Garrix.

Kiinjo’s journey is not only a testament to his musical versatility but also his desire to bring joy and movement to audiences worldwide. Speaking from Amami, a quaint village outside Osaka, Kiinjo states, “All I want to do is make people dance, move, have fun, and one day play in Ibiza.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Aaron. I am a lifelong musician, producer, and DJ. Kiinjo is a relatively new alias I made as an artistic outlet for the funkier house and disco sounds I have always made. It’s all really fun dancefloor music that I’m enjoying making and playing right now. I am currently based in Los Angeles but split my time in Toronto as well.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

I started a fun dance party called Make Me Feel – this record of the same title is a bit of a theme song that captures the energy of the function. Of all the songs I’ve released so far, this one gets the best dancefloor reaction. A-Trak and Chromeo have been playing it in their sets all summer and we just released it on Chromeo’s label Juliet Records.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Like many creatives, I have always pulled energy from every aspect of my life – all the beautiful and ugly things I ingest.. experiences, art, relationships, food, parties, travel. I’m really inspired by music technology. I stay on top of the new software and beta-test some of it. Exploring new tech and learning how things work often spark ideas. Since I started making beats, I’ve also always been excited by discovering old records and flipping samples. Kiinjo is an outlet for that as well! Most of my songs contain chopped bits of soul records with instruments I have played and programmed.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

Sept 28 in Toronto – Art Bash is an incredible fundraising event at Toronto’s prestigious Art Gallery of Ontario. This year will be focused on works by KAWS and Keith Haring! I will be providing the soundtrack for that evening with my friends Keys N Krates.

I will also be playing two Canadian shows with Folamour next month. October 26 in Montreal (MTelus) and October 28 in Toronto (Warehouse TBA). I love his music and we’ve connected on the internet so I’m excited to meet him.

What’s your goal for 2023?

2023 is 3/4 done haha but, looking in the rearview, this project is now a year old and I’m proud to have played some dope shows and released 7 records on some really cool labels. I make beats every day so my goal is always to grow my skillset on all fronts – especially as a writer and musician. I want to push the limits of my expression and bring even better tunes to my listeners. I’d also like to bring my live DJ sets to more cities. I hope to get to party with more of you soon!
