B00sted Showcases A New Era Of Music Creation With Selfish EP
Vancouver-based artist B00sted proves himself as the next artist to watch in Canada’s newest generation of creators with the release of his brand new EP Selfish via 604 Records. The collection showcases B00sted’s versatility as an artist while still maintaining his trademark R&B-pop flair.
On the heels of his brand new EP release, Vancouver R&B-pop artist B00sted unveils the official music video for the collection’s title track “Selfish.” B00sted – aka Keegan Jaeckel – continues to showcase the pride of his home province, filming the video in his trademark style against the backdrop of breathtaking BC scenery.
“Against the backdrop of lush, vibrant forests; the ‘Selfish’ video was inspired by the filming locations of the movie ‘Rambo: First Blood’ in Hope, BC – which is about an hour east of my hometown of Mission, BC,” B00sted shares. “The concept of the video was that an enigmatic character is on a quest to find B00sted, symbolizing the inescapable consequences that arise from acting selfishly.“

First off, what have you been up to since the last time we chatted?
It’s been super busy since we last chatted! Been working on tons of new music and a lot has changed these past few weeks in my personal life. It’s been really good though, good vibes all around.
You have unveiled your latest single, “Selfish.” What can you tell us about the creative process behind the track?
The idea for “Selfish” was first made up in my home studio back home. I had this demo idea made up for a few months and wasn’t too sure if I was ever gonna finish it. Last summer (2022) I went on a writing trip to Toronto where I brought up the idea to work on this track some more in a studio session with my 2 producer friends Evan Miles and Losh @Post Office Sound. I showed them the track and they thought it was really cool so we decided to work on it the rest of the session together. We did a lot of the production together in person then I brought the new demo back home and perfected it over video calls with Evan and Losh & some time spent on my own with tracking vocals and stuff.
This week, you shared the official music video for “Selfish.” What was the highlight of the video shoot?
The highlight of the shoot was definitely where we shot it (Hope, BC). It’s cool because people usually just drive through Hope and never really get the chance to explore it more. It’s got a cool retro vibe that I think matched great with the whole vibe of the track.
What made you choose to showcase BC scenery in the video?
I’d say because of where I grew up. Being a bit further away from the city definitely inspired the choice to shoot in nature and that’s why it’s a big part of my whole branding/vibe.
What’s your favourite thing about being a musician in Vancouver?
I’d say because it’s a lot less saturated compared to other big cities in North America.
What’s the best advice you could give someone trying to get started in the music industry?
Focus on making good music first. After that, things will slowly fall into place.
What else do you have up your sleeve for 2023?
I’m gonna try and focus more on singles for the rest of the year! I plan on releasing an album in the near future too so I’m gonna try and start brainstorming some stuff for that. Big thank you to everyone who supports my music & me! Love y’all.
