Montreal’s Le Couleur Shares New Single, “À la rencontre de Barbara” Ahead Of Upcoming Album, Comme dans un penthouse
After unveiling pieces of their new album, Comme dans un penthouse, which will see its release on September 22 (via Lisbon Lux Records), acclaimed Montreal trio, Le Couleur have shared the final single, “À la rencontre de Barbara.” Featuring Standard Emmanuel – lead singer of Montreal band, Choses Sauvages – the track is a shimmery, disco-pop earworm, sure to heat up these last weeks of summer!
With over 20M streams, 150 concerts, and syncs with HBO, Netflix, and Apple TV, Le Couleur is back with Comme dans un penthouse – their sixth album. Featuring an electronic, nu-disco sound à la Todd Terje and reminiscent of Fujiya & Miyagi’s early 2000s Krautrock, this new album is irresistibly suspenseful. Using Barbara, a character from 2016’s P.O.P., as a symbol of our collective thirst for excitement, this eight-track speed train of an album will transport you to a realm of icy desire.
“À la rencontre de Barbara,” is a danceable, enigmatic track reminiscent of 80s TV theme songs. The race against time begins – it’s Barbara’s turn (La rencontre de Barbara); will she be unmasked? Like a guru, she attracts glances – lost under the play of lights, what image do the mirrors of her penthouse reflect back to her? Barbara lets herself be tracked. Addicted to the chase, she runs to her doom.
The accompanying video continues to depict Barbara’s tale. In the heart of a glittering metropolis, a pair of shoes triggers an enigmatic quest for an elusive figure. Guided by urban lights, a traveler explores a nocturnal stroll, awakening lost memories and forgotten dreams. As secrets converge, Barbara’s mysterious story unfolds, captivating the viewer between reality and illusion.
