Early Rising Unique Producer/Alt-Pop Artist Maze Drops “show me to your bed”

Based in Montreal, Maze is a singer, songwriter, producer, and sound engineer who started music driven by an old passion for videography. She aspires to fuse many of her favorite genres, from the alternative rock her parents listened to when she grew up to the music she danced to in her teenage years, creating a mix of alternative, electronic, hip-hop, and afrobeats.

Her unique sound and hypnotizing universe have landed her placements on Samsung, Netflix, and BBC, as well as working as a music producer for the latest SOCAN and Universal Music camps.

Maze’s latest single for the summer, “show me to your bed,” was written about an unexpected romantic relationship with her friend. The single highlights her dynamic and stand-out minimal yet gripping production style.

I wrote this song when I was starting to fall for someone I never thought I’d date. We were friends for years and we had seemingly different lives but we got closer and I felt like I was falling for him.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi everyone! My name is Maze and I’m a singer, songwriter, and producer from Montreal. I make all my beats from beginning to end and I also love to work with other artists in the studio. My specialty is mixing genres such as alternative, electro, and hip-hop. I also love making visuals and music videos that represent my universe.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

show me to your bed is my latest release, and I’ve been super excited to finally bring it to the world. It’s a song that took me months to finish, where inspiration hit me in the strangest moments. It mixes minimal electro-pop with a big drop and afrobeat influences. I wrote the first verse after getting myself into a situation where I started falling for my best friend… I didn’t know what to do so I wrote about it! After a couple of months of working on the song, the lyrics evolved into a passionate story, where the situationship slowly turned into a real relationship.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

I mostly tend to get inspiration from my daily life, from my struggles and happy moments… I write a lot about physical pain because I live every day with chronic pain and I feel like we don’t talk much about the impact of how our physical bodies can affect our mental as well. I do also love to go back to old feelings and write from another, more mature perspective!

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

I do! I’ll be playing an hour set on September 8th for the annual party at Octave Studios in Montreal. They are a post-production studio but recently, they decided to also offer custom music and since I’m part of their catalogue, I’ll be playing an intimate set to celebrate this new direction.

What’s your goal for 2023?

My goal is to release more music, more visuals, and play more shows. I also want to focus on producing for local and international artists, so I can have my unique sound on many different projects. It’s all about leaving my mark any way I can.
