Doghouse Rose is all about chosen family. Founded in Toronto by best friends and partners in crime Sarah Beth Rose (vox/guitar) and Jefferson Sheppard (bass), the band is rounded out by long-lost cousins Jordan (drums) and Garrick (lead guitar). Not to be pinned down by genre labels, Doghouse Rose infuses elements of pop-punk, new wave, and rock n’ roll into a glorious and unique audio concoction all of their own.
On June 30, Doghouse Rose unveiled their album, Unlearn, which features twelve tracks that you’re going to want to check out!
The band is set to play on August 5 at Celebration Square in Mississauga for Rock The Coliseum.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We’re Doghouse Rose, your new favourite punk rock band from Toronto
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
It’s really a piece of all of us. We’re a completely collaborative band so it was important for us to get everyone’s creative voice on this one. It’s overall a very fun summer record.
We have a lot of 90’s pop-punk influence on there. It’s very No Doubt meets NOFX. There’s a range of tones from straight-up pop-punk bangers to some really personal dark stuff, but the lens is generally optimistic. We always want to be honest in the writing and sometimes that means things are pretty intense, but it’s overall about celebrating life and experiencing joy, otherwise what the hell is the point of living.
You’re set to play Rock The Coliseum in Mississauga. Have you played at this festival before?
I have attended quite a few times. We played the online version a couple of years ago. We’re really excited to experience it all in real life this time.
For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 5 words or less.
Fun, energetic, silly, sweaty
With an incredible Canadian lineup, who are you hoping to check out during the fest?
We’re really excited to see Sumo Cyco. We’ve been fans of theirs for a long time and it’s great to finally be sharing a stage with them.
Do you have any other festivals or shows to tell us about?
We’re dipping into quite a few areas across the country over the summer and fall. Stoked to finally be able to play these new songs for everyone. We’re super active on Instagram so make sure to follow us there to hear about it first.
What’s up next for you in 2023?
We just released a brand new record “Unlearn” so we’re getting out and hitting as many scenes as possible. We’re heading to the States in the spring and Europe next summer. We also hope to sample a wide variety of new snack foods.
