Victoria, BC-based band Hillsboro has recently unveiled their single, “Exit Plan.”
The single comes from the band’s upcoming self-titled, debut LP, which is set for release on September 15, 2023.
The 10-track project was predominantly self-recorded by the band, with co-production by Jon Epworth in Victoria, BC.
The album and its lyrics became an outlet, a diary of the darkest moments, a place of solace to record and reflect his newfound intoxication with self-ruin. Fortunately, Walker recognized that he could and needed to find a way out. All of this leads up to Hillsboro’s first LP. The album romanticizes what it feels like to be dragged out well beyond your limit, but doesn’t discredit the experience.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Nima from Hillsboro here. We’re a band from Victoria and we like to play really loud.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Exit Plan” is the first track on our new album which comes out on September 15. Kind of our take on the whole “strokesy” thing and definitely one of our favourites to play live. We made a video for it too in which I jump out of a plane, watching it is the most fun you will ever have.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
All the lyrics come directly from lived experiences one way or another, or some distorted picture of them anyway. Overall though we just try to make the most cathartic thing possible, I suppose our taste is informed pretty heavily by other music we like, but in terms of inspiration, it’s 100% gut feelings. When you hear something and it feels like your stomach sinks and your breathing gets heavy and you just want to turn in up louder. That’s the most inspiring thing.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
We played Redgate in Vancouver on June 30 and have a bunch of shows to be announced for July, our Instagram @hillsboroinc is the best place to see where/when you can see us live.
What’s your goal for 2023?
To get this album heard by the people we know it’s for. People who need a release. We’re also going to sign a major record deal and make infinite money. Thanks so much for talking to me.
