Tonight, The Cure played a sold-out Bell Center in Montreal! With their last show in town being 7 years ago, and the ticket prices for tonight very reasonably priced, it’s no surprise the show sold out in 45 minutes, and 16,000 people filled up the arena on this Friday night.
After a lead up of rain sounds building up to a thunderstorm (not unlike the one that unleashed outside a couple hours prior), the British band emerged on stage to a thunder of applause. After taking a minute to walk around the stage and smile at every section of the audience, frontman Robert Smith got to the mic and kicked things off with Alone.
For the following two hours and a half, The Cure commanded the stage as they went through 29 tracks! With a mix of crowd favourites and more niche tracks, the band covered 45 (!!) years of discography, with the crowd chanting along to most of them, screaming Friday I’m In Love, Boys Don’t Cry, Just Like Heaven and many more at the top of their lungs.
It was the first of two wonderful evenings, so if you missed out on tonight, you can still find tickets here for tomorrow’s show, and see for yourself that you don’t need to pay an arm and a leg to witness incredible live music from true rock legends.
