Amanda Keeles has unveiled her debut single, “Blame it on the Moonlight”
London, ON’s country singer-songwriter Amanda Keeles, two-time winner of The Canadian Open Singing/Songwriting Contest, has released her debut single, “Blame it on the Moonlight.”
The single was recorded at MCC Studio in Calgary (CCMA’s Studio of the Year for 2021 and 2022). Amanda teamed up with multitalented producer Johnny Gasparic to create an upbeat country vibe. She is joined by bass player Chris Byrne (The Road Hammers, Keith Floen and Therry Lawson of The Travelling Mabels), Juno and CCMA nominated Joe MacIntyre on drums, Branson’s Bruce Hoffman on steel, and Calgary’s country artist Bill Blayney on lead guitar. It’s a rhythmic, toe-tapping story of a women’s indecision of directing the blame for her broken heart will have you pressing replay.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Amanda Keeles! I have been singing country music for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a family of musicians, country music always filled the rooms of my childhood home, which ignited my passion for singing and writing. I’ve always really enjoyed performing on all stages, from intimate piano lounges and festivals to country bars. And now I am really excited to share the songs I have written with a bigger audience!
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Blame it on the Moonlight” is my debut single! It’s a story of a women’s indecision of where to lay the blame for her broken heart but with a fun, upbeat country vibe. It was recorded at MCC studios in Calgary (CCMA studio of the year 2021 & 2022) with multi-talented producer Johnny Gasparic along with Juno and CCMA award-winning musicians. I am happy to share as well that it was the winning song of the Canadian Open Country Singing/Songwriting Contest! Along with Country radio play, it is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and a number of other music sites.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
When I write, I usually personalize from a situation I have read, heard about, or experienced personally. I write from the viewpoint of the person who is experiencing the emotion. I feel it creates a relatable connection through my words and music.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
Stay tuned! Lots of fun and exciting things in the works. They will be posted to my website as soon as the dates are set.
What’s your goal for 2023?
I have a second release coming in March, which will be played across Canadian Country radio. This next song won another songwriter’s award the year after “Blame it on the Moonlight.” I am also planning to be back in the studio in the spring and release three more songs throughout 2023. I will be performing at various venues throughout the year and will keep everyone updated on my social media and website. It’s going to be a busy year, but I’m so excited for the journey ahead!
