The High Road – “Brand New You” (Single Review)

The High Road

The High Road shares their latest single, “Brand New You”

Barrie, ON-based country-rock band, The High Road, was formed in 2016 by Don Scott and Ron Fathers. Rising from the ashes of a previous band reunion, the two decided to form a new band based on the chemistry of their vocal harmonies and similar musical influences. Along the way, Richard Fathers came on board as a side member and, then, a full-fledged member. Needing to fill the role of the keyboard player, Dave Martin answered the call. The final link was drummer Greg Frank, completing the lineup.

All members sing lead vocals and vocal harmonies and are praised for their lush harmonies and top-notch songwriting.

The band has unveiled their latest single, “Brand New You.” The song is a befitting release for the new year since it is about new beginnings and opening up to new experiences in life. “Brand New You” was produced by renowned engineer/producer Michael Jack (Billy Ray Cyrus, Olivia Newton John).

Review

Coming in at just over 3 minutes, “Brand New You” doesn’t waste time bringing in powerful country-rock vibes. From the very beginning, I was sure I was in for a treat, and I was right!

The vocals and music are reminiscent of classic rock but with a modern twist. The lyrics, “It don’t matter what I do, Cause I can’t make a brand new you,” which is joined by “woo, woo,” leaves you singing along and swaying to the beat.

The energic, fun beat continues as the song progresses, leaving the listener ready for more.

As the first track I’ve heard from The High Road, I can, without question, say fans of country rock, classic rock, and pure country will enjoy this band, and I can imagine their live show would put them over the top!
