Ivytide Releases Self-Directed Video for Latest Single “overgrown”

Montreal-based indie pop band Ivytide has earned 4.5 million streams across DSPs and 49k monthly listeners on Spotify. Now, they share the sweet music video, which tugs at the heartstrings, for their latest single, “overgrown,” which was directed, filmed, and edited by the band themselves. Seeking closure after a relationship falls apart, viewers journey through glimpses of a past and present love affair. Upon revisiting old memories through photo flashbacks, the protagonist faces the important obstacle of finding acceptance and closure. This traveling back in time gives us an insight into the characters’ story and the moments leading to their separation. Filmed in the outskirts of Northern Quebec and within the city of Montreal, all production was done in-house.

“overgrown” captures an undying willingness to hold on to a fleeting relationship. As feelings start to become overgrown, the protagonist makes a dire attempt at saving what once was. The song delves into the reminiscence of good times, such as dancing in a room full of people, while signaling glimpses of dysfunctionality along the way. Written and recorded at a cabin in the woods of Northern Quebec, a raw emotionality is embedded in its singer-songwriter style. Blended with acoustic and folk elements, the song’s well-thought-out lyrics are guaranteed earworms. This is the third single from their debut album, slated for release in 2023.
