my death in june shares debut single, “Gestation”
Lily de Romana, the artist behind the popular niche breakcore/industrial noise dance project, Yenahvrna, is launching their career into the weird and experimental hyper-pop world under the new moniker, my death in june with the debut single “Gestation.”
Combining EDM, Drum, bass, and a whole lot of noise, “Gestation” is a pervasive single about losing everything to be reborn anew. The track begins with a darkened bass and bright piano line as psychedelic, vocaloid lyrics consume the scenery.
Later, the lyrics morph into harsh, almost demonic screams, chanting, “The world’s around me / outside myself. I can’t see now / Once it’s gone all that’s left is Me.” The experience is chaotic and beautiful, and in a way, the theme of rebirth could be a reference to the artistic progression of Romana.
“my death in june is meant to represent the certainty and metaphorical death of my inner ego, as I reawakened my artistic side and left Yenahrvna,” they say.
my death in june is working on releasing another single to follow up, “Gestation,” in December and then a debut album titled In Decay, in 2023.
