Vancouver, BC-based blues-rock band, the Jason Lane Band, is made up of five musicians, Jason Lane (guitars), Chantal Sayers (vocals), Alex Ritchie (guitars), Rob Cooper (drums), and Bruce Morrison (bass). The band unveiled their latest EP, Stone in the Water, back in June.

The six-song release includes the previously released single, “Say Goodbye,” which has garnered almost 10,000 views on YouTube.

The album starts strong with “Choose Another Lover,” which is an upbeat rockin’ tune with lyrics belted out by vocalist Chantal Sayers. This is the type of song you cannot help but move with and sing along with. The lyrics, “Every time you look my way, I hear a voice inside me say, Choose another lover, You gotta choose again before he breaks your heart in two,” possesses an intense anthemic vibe. Towards the end of the track, there’s an epic guitar solo that I had to listen to multiple times, as I just couldn’t get enough.

The second song that caught my attention was the title track, “Stone in the Water,” which showcases another side of the band. With a slower beat that carries you away, “Stone in the Water” still possesses the same intensity as previously mentioned. However, I find this track puts a stronger emphasis on the music, with multiple solos throughout. As I say that, I don’t mean to diminish the vocals at all. They are still magnificent, and Chantal evokes a softer yet still powerful vibe.

Through the release, it quickly becomes relevant that the Jason Lane Band is great at what they do, and I am certain their live shows would be one you don’t want to miss.
