Death From Above 1979, the OBGMs
October 12th, 2022
Corona Theater, Montreal QC
Last night, fans headed to the Corona Theater for a night of Canadian indie rock, with Death From Above 1979 finally playing a show that was initially set for March!
The night opened with Toronto punk-rock band The OBGMs. While the venue was still filling up during their set, the band pulled all the stops to make it feel like a sold-out show. Frontman Densil McFarlane just has an incredible level of contagious energy as he jumps into the crowd and runs in the photo pit to get the crowd jumping from side to side! Their opening set was absolutely terrific, a great way to set the mood for the evening, and we cannot wait for their next headline show in town!
Next, Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Grainger, aka Death From Above 1979, appeared on a dark stage in front of their signature elephant backdrop. With Sebastien on drums and Jesse on the bass, the two filled up the stage with energy. Their dance-punk set was loud and hypnotizing, and it had been a while since we last saw them in 2017, but DFA stands the test of time and provided the perfect entertainment for this Wednesday night!
