Angela Saini shares her single, “In It for the Ride”

Toronto, ON-based country-pop artist Angela Saini has teamed up with us at Canadian Beats Media to unveil her single, “In It for the Ride,” which is the first in a series of singles seeding a path to her sophomore album.

Angela wrote this song during a difficult period when she was questioning what she was doing with her life. There is a personal metaphor describing an “old beat-up car” that reflects how she felt as an artist and songwriter with quite a bit of experience behind her. This year, she celebrated ten years as an artist, with amazing career highs, triumphs, and also perceived defeats and discouragement.

Despite all this, Angela asked, “Would I do anything differently?” Her answer is a resounding NO.

“I’m in it for the long haul. I’m making music for life. I’m in It For The Ride!,” Angela explains. “When you look at life this way, you can never get it wrong and you will never get it done. Each peak leads you down a new path, a new opportunity to grow and expand yourself. That is what life is about.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi! I’m Angela. I like to write catchy songs about courage and finding joy in surprising places. I’m bi-racial (my father is from India) and a crossover country-pop artist who loves a good sing-a-long! I’m a prairie girl now living in the big city, as I moved to Toronto with the band I started when I was 15 years old, and I’m celebrating the 10-year anniversary of being a solo artist. Today I am excited to release my first single since my 2019 album Hope on the Stereo. It’s been a wild ride, baby!

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My new single, “In It For The Ride,” is a sassy country-pop rocker that bursts with big hooks, sunny harmonies, and determination. It epitomizes hope while living through the challenging moments where I’ve just wanted to give up. In recent years I have found a deep peace and confidence in my journey and creativity, and have come to realize that life is not about where we GO but who we BECOME in the process. I wrote this song about celebrating the journey as much as the destination. We never stop growing. There is always another place we want to go, a lesson we must learn, or a window we can look out of along the way! I’m here for it all. The bumps, the twists, and turns… the dead ends… I’m “In it for The Ride!” My band and I recorded it at Union Sound with Chris Stringer. The music video for “In it for The Ride” will be released on October 17th.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Very often, it is my life experience. I wrote “In It For The Ride,” during a difficult period when I was questioning what I was doing with my life, and the first inspiration came from the metaphor of my journey as a beat-up old car. My emotions can often lead me down the path of self-discovery, which creates autobiographical songs. Still, sometimes the stories of another person’s journey work just as powerfully to get the creative juices flowing.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

I’m excited to have a single release party at C’est What? in Toronto on October 20th, after a long-awaited return to live shows that kept me busy this summer. Tickets are available here.

What’s your goal for 2022?

This summer, I achieved my goal of returning to the live stage, including some bigger outdoor stages. I also recorded this song with another single ready to go before my EP comes out next year. My last goals for the year? I’m creating a new merch line, including air fresheners! Why? Because you’ll be better equipped to be “In It For The Ride” if your ride smells great. 😉
