OUDi is the sound of evolution—bold, fearless, and genre-defying.
Formerly known as Chrystal Leigh, OUDi emerges as a captivating force in the world of alternative pop. With a rich and diverse musical journey that spans genres and projects, OUDi brings a unique blend of influences to her debut solo project. Stepping into the limelight as one half of the industrial pop endeavor Jakalope (604 Records) alongside Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (NIN/Carly Rae Jepsen), OUDi delved deep into the intricate realm of sound, laying the foundation for her artistic evolution.
Now, as OUDi, she has unveiled “Only Tattoo,”
“I’ve always been someone who holds on to people. I’ve never been good at letting go, it’s as if people reserve a space in my heart for years after they’ve left my life. The thought of actually forgetting someone breaks my heart. But one day I realized that some people had begun to fade from my thoughts, and even from my memory. It reminded me of my only tattoo, it’s a part of me, yet I sometimes forget it’s there. There was one person in particular I was thinking of when I wrote this song. I was filled with sadness at how we could have once been so close and now be total strangers, almost as if I never knew them. That was years ago, but when I find myself listening to this song and thinking about any love I’ve lost, I still feel that nostalgic twinge in my gut. It’s the realization that some people no longer hold space in my heart or mind. And though some might say that’s healthy, part of me still finds it heartbreaking.”
Review
OUDi’s “Only Tattoo” is a shimmering alt-pop track that pairs emotional vulnerability with an upbeat, almost hypnotic energy. The verses carry a quiet sense of nostalgia and longing, pulling you in with imagery that feels intimate without ever getting too heavy.
The chorus is the real hook—addictive, catchy, and instantly memorable. Lines like “Your face is fading like my only tattoo” hit hard, capturing that fear of forgetting someone in a way that feels raw and relatable, especially alongside details like shared laughter and stolen t-shirts.
Blending heartbreak with a melody you’ll want to replay, “Only Tattoo” is a mesmerizing track that lingers long after it ends.
