Danko Jones & Famous Strangers
February 6, 2026
Festival Place, Sherwood Park, AB
Danko Jones made his first appearance back in Edmonton since 2021, and it was a ripper!
The venue was Festival Place in Sherwood Park, a community on the outskirts of Edmonton – Festival Place is a theatre that holds roughly 500 people, and the show was packed with people ready to have their faces rocked by an iconic, yet underrated (in my opinion) Canadian artist.
Famous Strangers were local support on the show, and they did not disappoint. A relatively new band on the Edmonton rock and metal scene, they combine blazing guitars, heavy low-end, and a fantastic vocal delivery from singer Amanda Kiernan, who mixes both clean and melodic singing with harsher scream-style vocals. They were the perfect fit to get the crowd riled up, and did they ever.

Danko Jones hit the stage with his familiar ferocity – for a 3-piece band they bring an incredible amount of energy to the stage, and a massive sound.
Kicking off their set with “What You Need” – and what we needed was ROCK!
An 18-song set filled with energy and straigh-ahead rock and roll, Danko Jones brings his unique personality, fun stage banter, and his massive guitar tone sits front and center. Bass player John Calabrese is a fireball on stage, hopping around, making faces, and gesturing to the crowd – he’s a major component of what makes this band so much fun.
It was great to see them in such an intimate venue, and the crowd ate up every second of it.
