Rising country artist Carson Janik discusses the momentum behind his latest single “Choked Up.”

Canadian country artist Carson Janik is quickly establishing himself as a rising voice in the country-pop landscape. Hailing from Tecumseh, Ontario, Janik blends heartfelt storytelling with polished modern production, creating songs that balance vulnerability, confidence, and those carefree windows-down moments that country music does so well.

His latest single, “Choked Up,” has been gaining serious momentum across streaming platforms, landing on major editorial playlists including Apple Music’s Today’s Country and Canada’s Country, Amazon Music’s Country Heat and the cover of Just North of Nashville, as well as Spotify’s Country Frontier and North Country. The track continues to introduce listeners to Janik’s honest songwriting and relatable perspective.

Janik’s growing success follows a busy year on the road. In 2025, he launched his “Happy and Broke” tour, performing more than 30 shows and festivals across six provinces, and capped off the year as direct support for Midland at Caesars Windsor. With his debut EP surpassing 1.5 million streams and singles like “Til a Heart Breaks You,” “Easy for You to Say,” and “Neon to Lean On” earning national radio support, Carson Janik is proving he’s an artist to watch in Canada’s country scene.

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey!! My name is Carson Janik, I’m a country singer/songwriter from Tecumseh, Ontario.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

My new single “Choked Up” was a song I had written a little while ago, and had the opportunity to perform live while we were on our “Happy and Broke” Tour. We got tons of feedback telling us to record the song, and we did! I flew out to Vancouver to record with The Renaissance, and all my band members were a part of it, which was really important and special to be able to do.

Walk us through your creative progress when creating music.

I honestly think for me, my musical creation has to come spontaneously. The songs I am the happiest with always sort of come out of the blue, rather than setting up specific times to write.

Now that the music is out, what does the ‘road ahead’ look like? Beyond tours and videos, what’s one ‘bucket list’ goal you hope to achieve with this release?

I’m working on new music as I speak, and will be hitting the road to tour this summer, across Canada and the USA!

Every artist has a ‘lightbulb moment’ where things just clicked. Looking back, what’s the one performance or milestone that made you realize, ‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?

I think for me, just being able to stand on stage, and look out and perform in front of other people lights that fire in my soul. For whatever amount of time my set is, I totally am immersed in the connection of live music. And I absolutely love that.

We love championing Canadian talent. If you were curated a ‘Must-Listen’ playlist of emerging artists right now, who is the first person you’d add?

Ooooooh there’s so much talent in Canada it’s crazy. My list would go on forever, but I’ve been listening to a lot of Zach McPhee.

There’s nothing like the energy of a live room. Where can fans catch you on stage next, and for someonee seeing you for the first time, what should they expect from a [Band Name] live experience?”

You can definitely expect a high energy show, and you can catch us around Canada and the USA this year. Stay tuned with my Instagram as I announce dates!
