Catie St. Germain announces new EP, set for release in May 2026
Country music runs deep in Catie St. Germain’s blood. Hailing from Niverville, Manitoba, the rising singer-songwriter is the granddaughter of Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Métis legend Ray St. Germain — but she’s carving a legacy entirely her own.
Armed with a powerful, versatile voice and a gift for authentic storytelling, Catie quickly became one of Manitoba’s most exciting country voices. After releasing her first original music in 2023, she earned an unprecedented six MCMA Award nominations, taking home Emerging Artist of the Year and signaling the arrival of a formidable new talent.
Her singles “The Day Gets Too Long,” “High Forever,” and “Cleaning House” each climbed to #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown, while her debut EP in May 2024 gained traction on commercial country radio and secured her opening slots for heavyweights like James Barker Band, The Hunter Brothers, Jade Eagleson, and Owen Riegling. Most recently, she stepped onto one of the country’s biggest stages to perform the national anthem at the 112th Grey Cup, broadcast to more than five million viewers nationwide.
With a new EP set for release in May 2026, Catie St. Germain stands at the edge of a breakout moment — grounded in heritage, driven by heart, and ready for what comes next.
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Catie St.Germain and I am a singer songwriter from A small town called Niverville Manitoba and I am a proud mama to 3 young boys that keep me on my toes! Tell us a bit about your recent release.
My newest single “Prettier Than Me” is a cheeky and fun-as-hell anthem for anyone who’s ever met a man more into his reflection than a real connection. I had a blast writing this song with Aaron Goodvin and Brent Baxter, we did this session over Zoom a few years ago so I’m excited to finally share it with everybody!
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
“Burn that Bridge” is such a fun, bouncy song inspired by the man in black Johnny Cash and his song ring of fire. It was actually a song pitch from a friend of mine down in Nashville Emma-Lee that she wrote with some writers down there and I instantly fell in love with it and how clever it was. I’ve always been told the “best song wins” when writing, collecting and weighing single options for who I am as a country artist and this one just hit all the marks for me.
Walk us through your creative progress when creating music.
I’m a bit of a slower write! It usually starts with a topic or concept of a story and from there I start figuring out a melody and the rest just comes. One thing about my writing is I sit on half written songs for months sometimes and go back to them and each time I feel I tweak something that makes it better. That’s totally why sometimes I love getting pitched songs as well so I can stay excited and hungry with a release while working on other songs I have on the go and perfecting them. I am so excited with the next few singles I have coming cause they’re long over due to get ears on them!
Now that the music is out, what does the ‘road ahead’ look like? Beyond tours and videos, what’s one ‘bucket list’ goal you hope to achieve with this release?
I absolutely need to expand my team. I am so grateful that my latest releases have propelled me even more into the Canadian country music world and opportunities are rolling in but I am one person trying to manage it all and it’s getting a little hairy. Haha
A bucket list goal for me would be to secure dates on all the major Canadian country festivals!
Every artist has a ‘lightbulb moment’ where things just clicked. Looking back, what’s the one performance or milestone that made you realize, ‘Okay, this is what I was meant to do’?
Honestly, writing my first song. At the time, and this was only back in 2023, I was touring as a singer in a rock tribute band across North America and I was burnt out. I didn’t feel fulfilled, I was away from my family on a very set budget per show, (being paid less than the other players might I add) essentially building someone else’s dream and I knew something had to change. I sat on my back deck in the sunshine and started writing my first song “the taxman” and I sobbed for hours as the lyrics poured onto the paper. I remember feeling terrified that I sucked, or I had no idea about how to record music, but it was like something beyond me was pushing me to write that song and to just start this journey into original music. If I was going to make music my full time gig, I was going to do it for myself and my family.
We love championing Canadian talent. If you were curated a ‘Must-Listen’ playlist of emerging artists right now, who is the first person you’d add?|
Oh, this is a great question. It’s hard to choose just one! I met Mackenzie Leigh Meyer at the CCMA’s last year and not only was she incredibly genuine and so fun but her single coming out Valentine’s Day sounds exactly like what I want in a country song!
There’s nothing like the energy of a live room. Where can fans catch you on stage next, and for someone seeing you for the first time, what should they expect from a [Band Name] live experience?”
I actually have the coolest opportunity coming up this Spring but I can’t quite share yet… all I can say is be prepared to see more of me! I’m also really looking forward to playing the Calgary Stampede city sessions August 29th which is live broadcasted on PBS! If you’re in the Calgary area and want to come, tickets are on sale now and you can expect a super fun show that gives just the right amount of feels when needed.
My goal for my live show is for people to leave saying “Wow, I was not expecting that and I am a new fan!”
