TWICE

Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC
On Friday, January 9th, South Korean K-pop girl group TWICE kicked off the North American leg of their This Is For World Tour with a sold-out opening night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C.
Coming just months after TWICE celebrated their 10th anniversary, the group’s long-awaited first performance in Vancouver made the night feel particularly special—especially for fans who had patiently waited years to see them live. Fans lined up on Thursday when the merchandise booth opened outside the arena ahead of the show, later filling the venue dressed in music-video-inspired outfits and waving their official CANDYBONG lightsticks in perfect sync with the performance.
Around 8:10 pm, the lights dimmed, and fans screamed in anticipation as “FOUR” began playing from tape. As the opening notes of “THIS IS FOR” hit, the rectangular screen rose to unveil the nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
The group is touring in support of their newest album, THIS IS FOR — their fourth studio album. Over the course of the night, TWICE performed four songs from the album, including the title track “THIS IS FOR,” as well as “OPTIONS,” “MARS,” and “RIGHT HAND GIRL.” Beyond their latest release, the group’s setlist highlighted hits spanning their decade-long career, offering fans a journey through TWICE’s evolution and signature songs dating back to 2018.
The real spectacle of the show, however, came from the stunning outfits, perfectly coordinated dances, and top-tier production, including incredible moving stage designs, VCRs between songs, lighting effects, smoke, and bursts of confetti. The stage was set up in an S-shaped, in-the-round configuration, with the members taking turns performing on each side, giving fans throughout the arena a chance to see them up close. Not to mention the backup dancers, who added extra energy to the performance, and the live band, which got a chance to solo and absolutely crushed it.
During Act III of the show, each member got a moment to shine with their own individual or small‑group performance. Each with their own choreography and outfit. Debuting live for the first time, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung performed “TAKEDOWN,” a song from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. The track, tied to the huge global movie, has charted exceptionally well and showcased a bold, edgier side of TWICE’s performance style.
Winding down the night, the group performed some of their biggest hits, including “FANCY”, “What is Love”, YES or “YES”, “Dance the Night Away” and “ONE SPARK.”. Ending the night, TWICE gave Vancouver fans exactly what they had been anticipating with the tour debut of “LIKEY,” a song whose music video was famously filmed across the city in 2017, including Gastown, the Pink Alley, Steveston, Stanley Park, and even on the SkyTrain. The performance was bittersweet, as the group delivered a track that helped define their career while also calling back to the bright, energetic sound of their earlier days.
As TWICE gave their final goodbyes, it was emotional for fans who had grown up for a decade listening to their music and to finally be able to hear the global superstars live in concert. To some others, though, it was just the beginning if they were catching them for a second night the day after. But what was most evident was the connection between TWICE and their fans, known as “ONCE.” Throughout the night, the group led a chant, calling out, “This is for ONCE,” with the crowd responding, “This is for TWICE!”—louder than the group could have ever imagined.
