MGK in Montreal, QC – Show Review

MGK
DECEMBER 10th, 2025
BELL CENTRE, MONTREAL, QC

Machine Gun Kelly turned the Bell Centre into his own electrified playground on December 10, delivering a two-hour 35 song spectacle that felt equal parts rock opera, rap revival, and deeply personal victory lap. From jaw-dropping visuals to intimate moments that reached the farthest seats in the arena, this show was nothing short of unforgettable.

The night began with a bang—literally—as Colson Baker emerged from the mouth of a towering Lady Liberty head, smoke swallowing the stage during the iconic Outlaw Overture. As if that weren’t enough, his guitar descended from the rafters, instantly setting the tone for a night built on big swings and bold visuals. The crowd barely had time to catch its breath as he tore through “Starman” and “Don’t Wait Run Fast” with effortless swagger.

One of the most explosive moments came during MGK’s rap medley, where he blasted through excerpts of “maybe,” “Wild Boy,” and “El Diablo.” Fueled by intense pyro and raw energy, it was a reminder of his roots—and it absolutely ignited the room.

Then came a true “only MGK” moment: Colson reappeared standing on Lady Liberty’s outstretched hand some 40 feet above the stage as a massive Zippo lighter rose to ignite the oversized cigarette she held. Against this surreal backdrop, he launched into “I Think I’m OKAY,” creating one of the night’s most epic visuals. It felt complete—though you couldn’t help but imagine how wild it would’ve been if Yungblud had joined him.

During “bloody valentine,” the party hit full throttle as MGK invited multiple women onstage, transforming the moment into a chaotic, joyful celebration. But just when the show felt unstoppable, he flipped the script.

Midway through the set, MGK surprised the back sections by heading to a B-stage for a stripped-down, intimate mini-set. Performing “don’t let me go,” an emotional cover of NF’s “Who I Was,” Zach Bryan’s “sun to me,” along with “Lonely Road” and “miss sunshine,” he pulled the arena into a quiet, shared moment. A standout highlight here was a heartfelt shoutout to Corey Shapiro of Vintage Frames and his daughter Bowie, who gifted MGK a one-of-one pair of sunglasses before the show—presented, fittingly, in an oversized old-school cellphone.

As he made his way back to the main stage, the spectacle ramped up again. Lowered lighting rigs allowed MGK and opener Julia Wolf to be suspended above the crowd while performing a soaring cover of the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris”—a visually stunning, emotionally charged collaboration.

During “Lonely,” the arena glowed as fans lit up their phones, enhanced by a coordinated fan project organized by @marib.xox and @bludkelly. Pink post-it–style papers placed over phone lights created a soft, unified glow that transformed the Bell Centre into something truly special.

Some of the night’s most powerful moments came when MGK leaned fully into vulnerability. He dedicated “Play This When I’m Gone” to his daughters, Casie and Saga, and later performed “Your Name Forever,” written after the heartbreaking loss of his friend Dingo earlier this year. Wearing a one-of-a-kind coat featuring Luke Trembath’s face on the back, the performance sent chills through the crowd. He closed the night strong with standout tracks from Lost Americana, including “Cliché,” “Sweet Coraline,” and “Vampire Diaries.” The latter featured my personal favorite moment of the entire show—MGK’s carefree, magnetic dance that perfectly captured the joy of the night.

Opening act Julia Wolf did a solid job warming up the crowd, showcasing her fantastic voice. While her stage presence could have been stronger, her performance of “Jennifer’s Body,” dedicated to Megan Fox, was a clear highlight.

What made this night even more special was MGK performing Tickets to My Downfall in full to celebrate its five-year anniversary. For all the hate he gets, the love inside that packed arena was tenfold. Montreal showed up, and MGK gave everything back.

Hands down, this was my favorite show of the year. And if this is what MGK brings to Montreal, a road trip to Toronto next time might just be in order.
