Renon’s (WAY) TOO FAR: Same party, new ending. The complex deluxe chapter of alt-pop.
Montreal alt-pop artist, Renon, celebrating the one-year anniversary of her second EP, TOO FAR, with the release of the deluxe version: (WAY) TOO FAR (October 24, 2025).
The original EP told the story of a party girl’s downfall, ending with themes of death and anxiety. The deluxe version showcases Renon’s growth and revisits this narrative with two new tracks, “Go To Sleep” and “Priorities,” produced by Josh Cunningham. “Go To Sleep” shows a softer side, while “Priorities” returns to her heavy-synth signature style, ultimately setting the party girl back on her previous path.
(WAY) TOO FAR effortlessly mixes alternative and pop, featuring strong pop hooks, heavy instrumentals, impressive vocals, and jazz-influenced chords. The project balances confident tracks (“White Girl Wasted”) with personal ones (“Dizzy”), proving Renon is a meticulous perfectionist in her craft.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Renon, an emo-jazzy-popstar from Montreal. I used to go to jazz school but now I make this alt-pop music and I write all my songs! I’m also a Gemini and a child of divorce which tells you everything you need to know.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
(WAY) TOO FAR is the deluxe version of my EP that came out last year. The deluxe has two bonus tracks “Go To Sleep” and “Priorities”. This project means so much to me so I wanted to give it a proper goodbye with these extra songs. They show a new side of my sound but also add so much more to the EP’s party-girl downfall storyline. I’m really proud of these songs.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
Each song’s process looks a little different but I mostly get inspired by chord progressions or by specific lyrical ideas I have. Ultimately, inspiration comes when a sound or idea touches something in me.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
For now, I have some visualizers for these songs out now on my YouTube channel. I have shows in Montreal and Toronto coming up before the end of the year that I will be performing the new songs at. Hopefully there will be many more shows and opportunities to connect with my audience after the New Year too!
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Definitely performing at Osheaga Festival this year in Montreal. Playing Osheaga has been a life long dream as a Montrealer and this entire year felt like a dream come true preparing for the show. I’m so grateful for that experience and it has given me a new level of professionalism and some new fans!
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
I’ve been obsessed with Ayleen Valentine for a few years now, she’s incredible.
