The Cross Sea weave a witchy and ethereal soundscape with new single, “Just Like Adrianne”
The Cross Sea share their new single “Just Like Adrianne,” out today.
This is the second release from their upcoming self-titled debut album, which is set to arrive on February 13, 2026.
“Just Like Adrianne” is described as a spellbinding journey into the band’s sonic world, where bright guitars bubble up from dark depths, and ethereal voices and hypnotic bass swirl around a pure, pleading heart.
The song blends vulnerability and mysticism, drawing comparisons to artists like Adrianne Lenker, Johanna Warren, and Kate Bush.
It features a gripping opening verse:
“Bats and birds are bursting from technicolor explosions in flower form / And just like Adrianne I’m losing my vision / Gasping / Ceding to the storm”
The band’s songwriter, Anna Mernieks-Duffield, offers insight into the inspiration behind the new single:
“‘Just Like Adrianne’ describes a kind of love and knowing that is almost cruel in its certainty, but also gives the greatest celebration and moments of awe.”
She further explains her intention with the track:
“I set out to explore the process of writing a song that describes, lyrically and musically, the root and the flower of fully fledged adoration.”
Quote From Editor:
“The Cross Sea has bottled something truly unique with ‘Just Like Adrianne.’ It’s a mesmerizing blend of the beautiful and the terrifying all at once—a storm of technicolor explosions and melancholic nonsense. But at its core, this song is about a profound, almost primal ‘I know you’ connection.”
