On Saturday, October 18, St. John’s folk duo Quote the Raven took the stage at The Carleton in Halifax, filling the room with their harmonies and charm. Made up of Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke, the pair drew in the crowd with songs from their three full length albums, as well as some covers including a beautiful take on Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.”
Between songs, they shared stories and insights about their music and performing together, making the night feel less like a concert and more like a cozy gathering with friends. From their own catalogue, they performed songs including “Borrowed Time,” “Golden Hour,” “Love You the Best,” and my personal favourite of the night “Oh Lena–” a song written about Jordan’s niece, but my cat also shares the same name!
Joining Jordan and Kirsten to close out the night was artist, producer, and songwriter Chris Kirby, along with singer-songwriter Victoria Howse. Quote the Raven’s tour picks back up on November 11 with three shows in Ontario, six in Alberta, and even one in Kansas, USA!
