Ace of Wands return to cosmic inspiration for their new single, “Magical Mind”
Toronto-based Dream Rock trio Ace of Wands return this fall with their hypnotic new single, “Magical Mind,” available on all platforms October 1, 2025. Building on the momentum of their sophomore album, Desiring, the track takes a bold new sonic step — blending ethereal, psychedelic textures with driving rock energy and mystically charged lyrics.
Produced by Canadian rock legend Ian Blurton (Change of Heart, Future Now), “Magical Mind” marks a powerful collaboration and intense burst of inspiration for the band,
“This is the fastest turnaround we’ve ever had from writining and recording a song,” reveals lead vocalist and multi- instrumentalist Lee Rose. “It gave us a more adventurous and open state of mind throughout the process.”
Drawing inspiration from the origins of the band’s namesake, Lee Rose further dives into the development and meaning behind “Magical Mind”:
“The song‘s story and title were inspired by the Magical Mind oracle card found in LA-based, multi-disciplinary artist Yumi Sakuoftawa’s Cosmic Comfort Affirmation Deck . In many ways, this felt like going back to the band’s roots, where I began by taking so much inspiration from the Tarot and their myriad meanings.
From Yumi Sakuoftawa’s Maoftical Mind card:
“Magical Mind is the more informative, abundant, and adventurous version of the logical and rational mind that many people live by. Magical Mind sees opportunity and secret passageways and wormholes into new dimensions…”
“Thinking about my own Magical Mind, I know that this is where songwriting and creativity lives. A primal and intuitive part of my being, my Magical Mind is always there, but it can also feel strange and out of reach at times of writer’s block or creative inertia. In these moments, songwriting feels like a foreign language, my confidence is like a rug pulled out from under me, and my Magical Mind and I feel like we are in a relationship on the verge of breaking up. Of course, this felt like the perfect metaphor to write a song around. Imagining my Magical Mind as a partner I’m losing touch with, remembering when things were over and how to find the spark that puts us back together.”
Ace of Wands will celebrate the release of “Magical Mind” with a headline show at Monarch Tavern (Toronto) on Thursday, October 9, joined by Praises (Hand Drawn Dracula) and Flake. Advance tickets available HERE.

“The brilliance of Ace of Wands’ “Magical Mind” is how it finds comfort in contrast. It moves from a moment of chilling immobility and fading light into an intense, private world where a guiding love (‘stars in the sky’) helps the narrator ‘slow time’ and unlock their most ‘magical mind.'”
