Alex Krawczyk celebrates Jerry Garcia’s birthday with new single “Love Through Sound”
Folk-pop singer-songwriter Alex Krawczyk returns with her evocative new single, Love Through Sound, arriving August 1st—a date cherished by Deadheads as Jerry Garcia’s birthday. Co-written with longtime collaborator Robbie Roth, the track was recorded at Toronto’s Union Sound with engineering by Chris Stringer and mastering by Joao Carvalho. Warm, organic instrumentation frames lyrics rich with imagery and devotion.
Laced with nods to Grateful Dead lore—“Casey Jones,” “Cumberland mine,” “Uncle Sam’s blues”—Love Through Sound blends folk, Americana, and classic rock into a poetic journey that honours Garcia’s healing legacy. The refrain—“Love through sound”—serves as both mantra and mission, offering hope in turbulent times.
“This song was written as a thank you to the Grateful Dead for the inspiration they’ve shared for six decades,” Krawczyk shares. “I’m grateful to the band members for the wisdom and healing in their melodies, and for the love-filled community they’ve fostered, showing that music can reach across divides to bring unity and peace.”
