Logan Richard, Moira & Claire

Soulful PEI singer-songwriter Logan Richard played to a sold-out crowd at The Carleton in Halifax on July 4, celebrating the release of his May album Character Traits. This also marks the first time he’s sold out The Carleton!
Opening the night was Nova Scotia-based folk-pop duo Moira & Claire. The sisters warmed up the crowd with a handful of songs, including “South Shore,” and brand new songs “Dry Run” and “Two Word Answer.”

Logan Richard hit the stage with his performing band members, Sam and Josh Langille from the PEI band Absolute Losers. They treated the crowd to most– if not all– of the Character Traits album, performing songs like “Feels This Way,” “If You’re Gonna Change Your Mind,” and fan favourite “Up From Here.” Richard even delivered what might be a one-time performance of a song he wrote as a goodbye to his car he had for eight years, and also a cover of Bill Withers’ “Kissing My Love.” Moira & Claire joined Logan on stage to end the night with “Rolodex” and “The Grass Is Blue.” This wasn’t enough for the Friday night crowd, as they began chanting for an encore as the group left the stage. Logan returned on his own to perform an intimate unplugged rendition of “Stand By Me,” which he dedicated to his grandmother, whom he recently lost. He closed the performance by clapping and singing his way off stage and out through the crowd.
