Featuring Mick Davis and Thin Love, JJ Wilde, and The Glorious Sons

Night six of Iceberg Alley began with another Newfoundland-based band, Mick Davis and Thin Love. Mick Davis is a well-known Canadian singer-songwriter best known as the founder of The Novaks. The band features singer-songwriter Jill Porter, bassist Craig Follett, and drummer Allan Brake. Their hit, ‘Vibrations’, was the most popular song for seven weeks on CBC Music’s Top 20.
Mick Davis and Thin Love played some fan favourites, along with some well-known covers. One notable cover was ‘I Hate Myself for Loving You’ by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, where Porter got to showcase her talents. This is a band that you definitely do not want to miss.



Next up was JJ Wilde. Hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, this Canadian rock singer has been taking Canada by storm. JJ Wild’s sound blends raw rock energy with soulful grit. Her powerful vocals leave an emotional atmosphere as many of her tracks center around personal struggles, empowerment, love, and rebellion.
JJ Wilde released her debut EP, Wilde Eyes, Steady Hands, in 2019. This EP went on to have a number one single, ‘The Rush’, on Canada’s modern rock, active rock, and mainstream rock charts. She followed this up with a debut album in 2020 entitled Ruthless. This album earned her Rock Album of the Year at the 2021 Juno Awards. 2021 also saw the release of another EP in 2021 entitled WILDE. This EP featured hit singles such as ‘Best Boy’, ‘Mercy’, and ‘Off The Rails’. Fans of JJ Wilde were excited to see what she had in store for the night. She captivated the audience as they held on to her every word.



Headlines for the night were The Glorious Sons. Formed in 2011, The Glorious Sons are a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario. They released their first EP, Shapeless Art, in 2013. This EP featured their first radio single, ‘Mama’, which reached #6 on the Canadian rock radio charts. The re-release of this EP saw the single, ‘White Noise’, reach #2 on the charts.
The Glorious Sons released their full-length debut in 2014. This album was home to singles such as ‘Heavy’, ‘Lightning’, and ‘The Contender’. They went on to release singles such as ‘’Sometimes on a Sunday’, ‘Kill the Lights’, and ‘Everything Is Alright’. Their 2017 release of their second full-length album, Young Beauties and Fools, earned them a Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year in 2018.
Since then, The Glorious Sons have made a name for themselves in Canadian music. They continue to blend power rock with classic and modern influences.
Most recently, they have released singles such as ‘Mercy Mercy’ and ‘Lightning Bolt’, which kept their fans wanting more. Many of these tracks, along with others such as ‘Union’ and S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun), were played under the tent. What a night it was!
