St. John’s, NL started Saturday Night (June 20th) off right at the Iceberg Alley Performance Tent by kicking off Summer with some amazing talent.
Starting off the night was Billy and The Bruisers. Formed in 1991, this ten piece band from St. John’s, NL showcased their ability to get a party started. According to Music NL, “these veterans of the music scene have gained a loyal following and a well-deserved reputation as one of the most versatile and entertaining musical acts in Eastern Canada.” They are a household name for many local festivals and are sure to leave a memorable impression.

Next up was the American rock band from Detroit, Michigan, The Romantics. Formed in 1977, the band brought a power pop and new wave sound influenced by 1950s American rock and roll. The band achieved popularity with their singles ‘What I Like About You’ and ‘Talking in Your Sleep’. After many years performing around the world, mwith ultiple albums and singles, The Romantics were voted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame. The Romantics played their hit songs, along with other tracks including ‘Rock You Up’, ‘I Fought The Law’, and ‘Tomboy’.

Finishing off the night was the Canadian rock band, Chilliwack. Formed in 1970, the band rocked out until 1988, when they took a hiatus. Front man Bill Henderson reformed the band in 1997, and they have continued to grace Canada and the world with their electrifying shows. The band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2019, solidifying their place as one of Canada’s most memorable bands.
Chilliwack is best known for his six best-selling songs, ‘My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone), ‘I Believe’, ‘Whatcha Gonna Do’, ‘Fly at Night’, ‘Crazy Talk’, and ‘Lonesome Mary’. All of these memorable tracks were played on what was said to be their final performance in the Iceberg Alley Performance Tent, as a part of their “Farewell to Friends” tour. It was sure a night to remember as fans sang along to their favourite tunes, encapsulating every moment.

With night two in the books, I cannot wait to see what night three holds.
