Brandi Vezina’s latest EP, Grit & Glamour is a must-listen
Brandi Vezina, a proud Métis artist from Manitoba, is making waves with her bold storytelling, heartfelt country sound, and unapologetic grit. Her Grit & Glamour EP blends emotional depth, identity, and resilience—brought to life on her current tour across the prairies and Boreal forest.
Standout tracks like “Next Time I Love” and “Paper Town” showcase her ability to connect lived experience with powerful songwriting. With major showcases at BreakOut West and Country Music Week, a spot in the Women in Music Canada Accelerator, and the 2024 Vince Fontaine Legacy Award under her belt, Brandi is firmly on the rise.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Brandi Vezina, and I’m a singer-songwriter from Manitoba. I write about the things I’ve lived, know, and witnessed, love, loss & family stories. I love telling the truth through song. I’m sober, an animal advocate, and a part-time teacher.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
“Next Time I Love” is a soulful anthem of resilience and renewal. I co-wrote it with Styles Haury, Liz Christensen, and Jarrod Kompier, and it captures that journey from heartbreak to hope. This EP really shows my evolution, blending my classic country roots with modern, honest storytelling.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
Honestly, I just follow the spirit of the story. I don’t force anything if a lyric or line comes to me while I’m driving or walking, I voice note it or write it down. Sometimes it starts with a feeling or a conversation that stays with me. When I write with others, especially my go-to collaborators like Styles Haury, Liz Christensen, Buddy Elliot or Scott Nolan, it feels like we’re piecing together something honest and lived-in. I write from memory, from wounds, from moments I can’t forget.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
Yes! I’ll be releasing Paper Town in September 2025. There will definitely be visuals and content that help tell the full story of Paper Town; it deserves that care.
I have Grit & Glamour summer shows & a fall tour, and I’m taking part in an Amazon Indigenous Song Camp in Toronto in July.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Honestly, writing Paper Town felt like a turning point. It was the first time I realized how deeply I could tap into my own community’s stories and turn that into something that might help others feel seen. And having Scott Nolan on the song and helping shape it meant the world to me. That moment showed me I’m exactly where I need to be, writing from the truth, not chasing trends.
Last, but not least, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
I have to shout out my brother, Jesse Bandura. He’s got new music coming soon. Check him out!
