With a storyteller’s instinct and a singer’s sensitivity, Victoria Staff returns with “I Still Think You Might,” a coy and frustrated indie-pop single about a love that refuses to cleanly let go. At once wistful and wounded, the track captures what it’s like to live in the shadow of something unresolved. But the track dives deeper than textbook heartbreak. “I Still Think You Might” explores the emotional mess that lingers when two people move on but still can’t quite forget each other. You can hear it now, here.

Singer-songwriter and poet Caroline Colantonio introduces “Baby Robotic,” a haunting, poetic debut single that marks the beginning of Carrie Matisse — a conceptual narrative blending music, literature, and emotional excavation. Inspired by a chance encounter with a single poem during a moment of personal reckoning, “Baby Robotic” offers a sonic and lyrical glimpse into the beginning of a larger world. You need to check out our single review here.

Vancouver drag performer and indie pop-rock musician Dust Cwaine returns with their electric new single and video, “Little Plans,” out now on all digital streaming platforms. Produced by Josh Eastman (Kylie V, Turunesh) and written by Dust and Charlie Kerr (Hotel Mira), ‘Little Plans’ is the lead single from Dust’s forthcoming album Twin Lakes, set for release later this year. Emotionally charged and buzzing with energy, the driving synth-rock track channels the all-encompassing feeling of a new romantic connection. Hear it now on your favourite streaming platform or check out the official video here.

Following the explosive debut of their first single, Prisoner returns with “Stress Fracture”—the hard-hitting second release from their upcoming album, Kill the King. Ever heard thrash-inspired anthemic heavy metal? Look no further, as “Stress Fracture” changes lives with its massive chorus’s intense harmony, guitar solos, and heart-stopping bass. “Stress Fracture” comments on the idea of how society uses medicine, pharmaceutical or not, to address immune responses rather than fix the root cause of a problem. We have a full interview with Prisoner here.

Edmonton punk rockers Forester channel late-night longing and the raw edge of memory in their latest single, “Daredevil Youth.” Fueled by adrenaline, angst, and aching nostalgia, the track is a shout-along anthem to the reckless abandon of being young, alive, and utterly unbreakable. Honest and unpolished, “Daredevil Youth” doesn’t try to dress youth up in sentimentality – it drags it through the mud, slaps on a crooked grin, and raises a glass to everything that shaped us, scarred us, and made it all worth it. You can hear Forester’s latest single here.

After 15 years of bringing the party wherever they play, The Heavyweights Brass Band are ready to make you dance, strut, and testify with their fifth full-length album, Knockout, dropping June 27, 2025. With a sound steeped in New Orleans brass traditions, Toronto’s reigning brass band champions fuse jazz, funk, and soul into a heady, horn-heavy celebration of everything that makes music joyful and alive. Follow-up single “Splacka” is out now, and you’ll know why they call it that as soon as the drums kick in. This is gonna be my number one recommendation, so please go check it out here.
You just witnessed everything that I picked up this week. You can also find more across our website, so be sure to stay in the loop on all of our social media. All of these recommendations should be available on your favourite streaming platform, so be sure to support them and add them to your favourite playlist.
