Briston Maroney, Peach Pit, bnny
Deer Lake Park, Burnaby, BC

It was all sunshine and serotonin Friday night as Peach Pit and Briston Maroney brought their co-headlining Long Hair, Long Life Tour to Deer Lake Park. With not a cloud in the sky and temperatures hovering in the “you don’t even need a hoodie” range, the night felt like summer had finally clocked in.
BNNY opened the show with a mellow, slow-burn set that was perfect for sprawling out on the grass with a cold drink. But the mood shifted fast once Briston Maroney hit the stage, sprinting out to “Real Good Swimmer” and waking up the crowd. He brought that frantic, full-heart energy he’s known for by jumping and shouting for over an hour.
Even with all that chaos, Maroney knows when to ease up. Mid-set, he slowed things down for “Land of Light” and “Caroline.” The sun setting behind the crowd made the whole moment feel like a movie. And then came “Freakin’ Out on the Interstate” ending his set in a full-blown sing-along.
Peach Pit followed, keeping the energy up but shifting the vibe. They walked on, beer in hand, and opened with a heavy-hitting cover of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath, and then slid right into “Magpie.” Neil Smith was in top form, half frontman, half stand-up comic, and cracking jokes between songs and trading banter with fans.
The Vancouver band looked totally at home on that wide-open stage, running from side to side. The hair flowed, the guitars wailed, and the crowd lost it for songs like “Alrighty Aphrodite,” “Drop the Guillotine,” and the one-two punch of “Shampoo Bottles” into “Private Presley.”
Then came the encore. Smith returned solo, and played the track that started it all: “Peach Pit.” For the final song, both Smith and Wilton’s dads came out and joined the band on “Tommy’s Party,” capping the night with a surprisingly emotional moment.
Great weather, great music, great crowd. The Long Hair, Long Life Tour stop in Burnaby had no wrong notes.
