Tyler Ellis does it again — with heart, humour, and a whole lot of soul.
Award-winning Toronto singer-songwriter Tyler Ellis is an extraordinary storyteller, evident on his new single “Do It Up Right.” Ellis once again shares his warm, down-home, rugged voice to bring the story to life. From his eighth album to date, Down by the Don, coming out in June.
“Do It Up Right” flows smoothly and easily as a mountain stream, recalling the wit, wisdom, and musical style of the late, great John Prine. The song finds Ellis practising his slapshot in the garage, accidentally knocking over a musty box of old knick-knacks, which then inspires him to reminisce over the younger days of love, when he and his partner would “do it up right” and “kick it on a Saturday night.” The punchline? They still do.
