Hippo Campus & Hotline TNT

On May 14th, American indie rock band Hippo Campus brought their Flood Tour to the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver.
The band brought a fun vibe, with melodic guitar licks, trumpet parts, and the audience helping them sing back the choruses to classics like “Way It Goes”, “Buttercup,” and “South”.
Opening was American rock band Hotline TNT, hailing from New York City. The band could be identified by their heavily distorted guitars that created a powerful, unique sound. They even got the crowd to help sing back the chorus na-na-na-na-nas back from their new single “Julia’s War.”

Hippo Campus had a very balanced set, keeping the energy in the room and having no dull moments. The band are touring in support of their newest album, Flood, and played “Madman”, “Paranoid”, “Everything At Once”, “Toothfairy”, and “Corduroy.”
The new album sees Hippo Campus exploring a more electric sound and the use of live autotune. The band, of course, didn’t stray away from their older hits like “Suicide Saturday”, “warm glow,” and “baseball”, which encapsulates the feel-good Hippo Campus sound.
