Folk artist from Halifax, Daniel James McFadyen kicked off the first of two sold-out shows at The Carleton in Halifax on April 18. Backed by his solid band—Mat Elliot on bass, Sarah Surette on vocals, Scott Marsters on electric, and Mat Hughes on keys—he played fan favourites such as “Goin Back,” “Landmine,” “City of Ashes,” and “Hot Sun.”
McFadyen gave the spotlight to his bandmates Mat Hughes and Sarah Surette, inviting them to share a couple of their own songs during the set. He also welcomed frequent collaborator Darragh Jessome to the stage, and together they performed a few tracks they’ve recorded, including “Find My Way to You.” Cape Breton’s Rankin MacInnis also joined in later, teaming up with McFadyen and the band for a handful of songs that kept the good vibes going.
