Jesse Cook doesn’t just play guitar—he makes it sing, shout, and dance. The Vancouver crowd at The Centre on Saturday night got a front-row seat to that magic, no opener, no filler—just Jesse and his band bringing the full force of their genre-blurring style.

Cook kicked things off solo with a loop pedal, layering crisp rhythms until the sound filled the room like a full band was already onstage. One by one, his crew joined him: Marito Marques on percussion, Matt Sellick on guitar, Dan Minchom on bass, and Fethi Nadjem on electric violin and mandole. By the third song, it was a five-piece unit firing on all cylinders.

Cook’s guitar work was sharp as ever—lightning-fast but always warm, grounded, human. His banter was charming, a little goofy, and totally disarming. He cracked jokes between songs, teased world politics, and made it all feel intimate despite the large venue.

Thirty years in, Cook’s still pushing his music forward. Saturday night proved why his shows keep selling out around the world. Flamenco, jazz, pop, rumba, it was alive and loud in Vancouver.
