Dear Rouge closed out their Lonesome High tour with a hometown blowout at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. The night opened with a surprise comeback from Gay Nineties,  their first show in years. If you’ve been around since the early 2010s, you’ll remember they used to tour with Dear Rouge back in the day. Their return was loud, glammy, and full of swagger. It’s been a long time since their last release in 2017, but they didn’t miss a beat. Fans who’ve been quietly waiting got the payoff.

Then Dear Rouge took the stage like they owned the place. Danielle McTaggart was a firework from the start, her voice sharp and soaring over a mix of synthy pulses and crunchy guitars. Drew McTaggart, as always, brought the edge. The set leaned into Lonesome High but made space for crowd favourites like “Black to Gold” and “Modern Shakedown.”

At one point, Danielle hopped into the crowd, turning the room into a party and a group hug all at once. It was messy and heartfelt and sweaty. The good kind of chaos. Vancouver showed up for Dear Rouge, and the band gave it all right back.
