Tim Albertson shares new single, “Do What You Do” (Interview)

Tim Albertson brings small-town roots and stadium-sized energy to his latest country anthem, “Do What You Do.

Tim Albertson is keeping the party going with his latest single, “Do What You Do”—a mid-tempo country love song that blends classic country instrumentation with a modern twist. Produced by Shawn Moore (2024 CMAO Producer of the Year), the track’s driving beat and infectious energy make it a perfect fit for upbeat country playlists, road trips, and summer nights.

Born and raised in Hurkett, Ontario, Tim is a small-town artist with a stadium-sized sound. His electrifying stage presence has landed him spots opening for country heavyweights like Lee Brice, The Reklaws, and Tim Hicks, and his ability to fire up a crowd has drawn comparisons to Luke Combs, HARDY, and Jason Aldean. With his upcoming EP Blink Town Tales, Vol One on the way, Tim is proving that small-town roots can lead to big-time moments.

We caught up with Tim to talk about the new single, his journey so far, and what’s next for this rising country star!

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Tim, and I come from a small town just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario called Hurkett. Don’t bother looking for it on a map cause you won’t find it, but it is a small community of around 150 people growing up. Music became my passion at the age of 7 when I took the stage for the first time and was told that I had “A gift.” Now, I really was not that good at much else in school so Music became my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to grace the stage with Lee Brice, Sawyer Brown, Josh Ross, Owen Reigling, Steven Lee Olsen, as well as a list of others, as well as this summer at Dauphin’s Countryfest with Jordan Davis. I’m small-town made, but Stadium Sound grade!

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your new single “Do What You Do”? What
message do you hope listeners take away from it?

I remember sitting on the couch with the Mrs. when I first heard the worktape from my good friend, and songwriter, Elias James. From the moment the lyrics started to play, the story itself came alive! This upbeat, dancey love song tells the story of a couple years into their relationship and still pinching themselves at how lucky they are to have found each other and how after years together, they are still so in awe of each other. My hope is that when listeners hear it, their toes start to tap and they can’t wait to grab someone and get on that dancefloor!

This song features a modern twist with the use of synths alongside traditional country
instruments. How did you collaborate with producer Shawn Moore to bring that unique
sound to life?

Shawn Moore of Moore Music is a godsend! Hands down one of my most favorite human beings on the planet!

Being 20 hours apart definitely has its challenges when working with anyone, because as you can imagine, we don’t get to see each other that much, which makes studio days even that much more exciting. Shawn’s ear for music, his knack for the finest details, and his ability to take demos and turn them into top-notch quality tracks is something of magic!

Shawn also has a knack for finding the perfect musicians to track with. Stu Wienburg and Jr Riggan has been my studio family for years and we go into the studio the same way, “Let’s create Magic!” When you are fortunate enough to have some of the best musicians in the world, you let the inspiration take over and create gold, and that’s exactly what we got!

You mentioned that Do What You Do would be a great fit for Spring or Summer
playlists. What makes this song the perfect soundtrack for those seasons?

When you hear this song, it’s hard to not want to roll your windows down, crank the radio up, rush home, and dance the night away with your significant other. When you think about Spring and Summer, with love in the air, sun on your face, and maybe a beverage in hand, this song would fit perfectly in that scenario. Fans have already been saying how much they can’t wait to sit out on their patios with this song cranked up. So really, they were the ones to call it “The Song of the Spring/Summer”

Your upcoming EP Blink Town Tales, Vol One sounds intriguing. Can you give us a
sneak peek into what we can expect from the rest of the project?

“Blink Town Tales, Vol One” is a 6 song EP that will have 4 Previously released tracks and 2 Brand New Singles, One Being “Do What You Do” as I stated earlier I grew up in a small community, which some would refer to as a “Blink Town” where you “Blink, and you miss it!” These songs tell the stories from my childhood and young adult life in every aspect, from parties and hookups, to heartbreak and loss. I wanted this EP to have something for everyone to enjoy, and get them excited for the next chapter of my story, Volume Two.

Finally, what do you hope fans will feel when they listen to “Do What You Do”? What
kind of impact do you want this song to have on them?

Haha, they are probably feeling happy it’s finally here! I’ve been teasing this song live on stage for months now and have built so much anticipation that even when the song went live at midnight, people were flooding my feed with excitement! I love my fans, they are like family to me, without them I don’t get to live out my dream, so this one, is for them! I hope they have just as much listening to it, as I did making it!
