March 15th was a landmark day for the St. John’s music scene with the opening of a brand-new venue inside the newly expanded JAG Hotel. JAG Soundhouse boasts a capacity of 1,600, offering both standing and seated areas.
To christen the venue, local favorites Mick Davis and Thin Love took the stage, delivering an unforgettable rock and roll experience. They were the perfect choice to kick things off, energizing the crowd and setting the tone for the night.
The headliner for the evening was Collective Soul, who were wrapping up a Canadian tour with Our Lady Peace. When tickets for the show went on sale last December, they sold out in no time, and it’s easy to understand why. The band played some of their biggest hits and shared stories from their incredible 30-plus years in the business. The crowd sang along with every song, sometimes even outshouting the band itself.
It was a fantastic way to launch this new venue, and I’m already looking forward to seeing what incredible acts they’ll bring in next.
