Shawn Daniels shares “Louder Than Ten” (Interview)

OUTLAW COUNTRY ARTIST SHAWN DANIELS CRANKS UP THE VOLUME WITH ELECTRIFYING DEBUT SINGLE “LOUDER THAN TEN”.

Outlaw Country rocker Shawn Daniels, hailing from Langley, BC, cranks up the volume with his electrifying debut single “Louder Than Ten.” Produced by Grammy award-winner Brian Howes, the track is a fiery blend of honky-tonk grit, bluesy soul, and rock ‘n’ roll rebellion. Featuring powerhouse vocalist Chandra Russell, whose soulful vocals elevate the song’s infectious energy, “Louder Than Ten” is an anthem for living life full throttle.

With lyrics that celebrate the thrill of the open road and the freedom of making your own rules, Daniels showcases his dynamic storytelling and raw, magnetic presence. From its searing guitar riffs to its chant-worthy chorus, the song is a celebration of unapologetic individuality and the transformative power of music. Whether you’re drawn to its outlaw spirit or its high-energy performance, “Louder Than Ten” is proof that Shawn Daniels is turning up the dial on modern country rock.

Congrats on the release of “Louder Than Ten”. The track has such a powerful anthem-like feel. What inspired you to write the song?

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it. For this one, I wanted to create something with that big, anthemic vibe, you know? I was aiming for something in the vein of Eric Church, with a little bit of that edge and energy. But I also threw in some influences from Brad Paisley’s fun, guitar-driven sound and maybe even a little ZZ Top for that rock-infused southern groove. I just wanted to write something that would get people fired up and give them a tune that would make them want to turn it up loud and sing along.

You worked with Grammy winner Brian Howes on Louder Than Ten. Can you tell us about your experience recording this song with him?

It was such an incredible experience working with Brian. From the moment we started working together, I could tell he was all in on helping me get the best version of this song recorded. His ability to push me to dig deeper in my performance really made a difference, and his talent for creating a sound that’s both fresh and authentic is unmatched. He took the song to a whole new level – that’s what great producers do!

With artists like Eric Church and Luke Combs blending outlaw influences into their mainstream success, how do you think this has impacted the perception of the Outlaw Country genre among new listeners?

I think it’s done wonders for the Outlaw Country genre, honestly. Artists like Eric Church and Luke Combs have been able to bring that rebellious, raw energy from the Outlaw days and mix it with modern sounds, which has really resonated with people. It’s opened the genre to a much wider audience. More listeners are discovering that Outlaw Country isn’t just a thing of the past—it’s alive and well, and it’s influencing a whole new generation of country music fans. They’re blending those classic sounds with fresh takes, making it something that feels both nostalgic and new at the same time. It’s exciting to see the genre growing like this.

What is next for Shawn Daniels in 2025?

Well, 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for me! I’ve got more singles coming out, and I’ll hitting the road to do a lot of touring later this year. Anyone who knows me (from my previous) projects knows that I don’t just sit around on my hands waiting for something to happen. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and connecting with fans in person. There’s nothing like that live energy and being able to share new music with people face-to-face. It’s going to be a blast, and I can’t wait to see where this year takes me! Keep an eye out for some surprises too—you never know what’s next.

Finally, it’s time to pay it forward. What upcoming Canadian band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?

There’s a new artist that I’m playing a hand in developing. I’ve written a few songs for him. And I’m huge fan of his voice. Check out Ben Chabot.
