First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! My name is Arlene Quinn. I am a Canadian singer/songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario. My music has been played in more than 63 countries and I am so excited to share my brand new single “Wonder Woman” with all your readers!
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
“Wonder Woman,” is an empowering anthem penned by the talented trio of Patricia Conroy, Jess Moskaluke, and Haley McClean. With every note, “Wonder Woman” seeks to ignite a flame of determination, offering hope and the unwavering belief that anything is possible.“Wonder Woman” is not simply an energetic and catchy song, it is a reminder that within each and every one of us lies the heart of a true hero.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you follow a specific method or creative routine?
My songwriting process is typically different depending on whether I am writing on my own or co-writing. If I am co-writing, I like to use song mapping so all the writers in the room have a general idea of where the direction of the song is going. If I am writing a song on my own I have a little more freedom to venture in different directions and often have more time to rewrite or choose different outcomes when it comes to the storyline. My experience with co-writing in Nashville has often required booking a time to write with others and working with other writers scheduled writes so you often have to be clear on what your vision for the song is so all writers can write to that main idea/goal. I enjoy both processes as long as they end up with a great song!
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
We are donating all proceeds from the sales of “Wonder Woman” to the Canadian Cancer Society on behalf of Breast Cancer Research. We reached out to all of my fanbase and asked them to share pictures of themselves and their loved ones during their battle with breast cancer. My team produced a video that features all of these courageous warriors who inspire me so much with their strength and bravery. I was honoured to sing “Wonder Woman” for 3000 attendees at the CIBC Run For The Cure last month in Ottawa. I will be releasing my brand new album in early 2025 and will be holding an album release party/show at our local theatre and then kicking off the Spring/Summer festival and fair season. I look forward to seeing you all at one of my live shows in 2025!
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
There have been many turning points in my musical career but if I had to pick one highlight it would be sharing the stage and a wonderful weekend on Tybee Island with Michelle Wright. I listened to all of her music growing up and dreamed of sharing the stage with her one day, so getting the opportunity to showcase my songs with her in a writer’s round was a dream come true, spending quality time with her and sharing stories of our lives was just an extra bonus. I have been blessed to open shows for many country music artists from Nashville, but nothing can compare to sharing quality time and sisterhood with one of the women I look up to and admire in this industry.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
I love paying it forward! I would definitely recommend checking out Vicki Brittle. She is an amazing songwriter from my area who deserves a lot more recognition for her incredible talent.
