King Diamond, Overkill

Last night, King Diamond brought the spooky vibes to Montreal’s MTelus! We started our evening with 80s thrash metal band Overkill, who quickly got the crowd in a moshing frenzy.
Up next, Danish metal band King Diamond was the main act of the evening. MTelus’ curtain opened up on an eerie stage dubbed Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920, with the lead singer performing a ritualistic intro with a doll. And the theatrics didn’t stop there, of course. In his signature top hat and face makeup, King Diamond pranced around the stage and it’s higher level (a great use of the space available to create dimension), his signature vocals resonating through the venue. The evening felt delightfully spooky, and a perfect activity for this hallo-weekend!
King Diamond’s last visit in Montreal dated back from 2019, and the first one, as he highlighted on stage, was in 1986! So it’s not doubt that there is a longstanding relationship between King Diamond and the Montreal public, and we felt this chemistry without a doubt from the first notes of Arrival, where he was quick to notice that “audiences usually don’t sing along that part with us!”.
Halloween may be over, but for King Diamond, it’s Halloween every day. If you wish to extend the scary vibes a little bit longer, King Diamond will be playing in Toronto tonight, in Vancouver on the 18th and in Edmonton, Saskatoon and Calgary following that.
