CARDINAL NOIRE RELEASES NEW SINGLE “GUN METAL” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM, VITRIOL OUT DECEMBER 06

Finnish industrial outfit Cardinal Noire has dropped their latest single, “Gun Metal,” a sonic war cry that plunges deep into themes of societal decay with unrelenting force. Dark, confrontational, and seething with mechanical fury, the track is a brutal showcase of the band’s signature sound, setting the stage for their upcoming album Vitriol, set for release on December 6, 2024, via Artoffact Records.

Opening with a barrage of percussive artillery—imagine an industrial junkyard rising from the depths to wage war—the track sets an immediate tone of volatility. The drums hit like sledgehammers on sheet metal, each strike more visceral than the last. It’s a relentless, high-speed chase into oblivion, backed by a serpentine bassline that slithers with malice. Add in the eerie undercurrent of synth textures, and you’re left with something that feels at once deeply unsettling and oddly entrancing. There’s no escape once you’re caught in Gun Metal’s jaws.

Lyrically, Gun Metal tackles weighty themes: the insidious nature of power, the manufactured chaos of the modern world, and the hidden atrocities that fester beneath the surface of society. The vocal delivery is as raw as the message—Jorgensen-like in its distorted shrieks, channeling a voice of reason turned into a ransom call from the void. Lines like “impassionate display of disdain / for this specific form of infanticide” don’t so much tell the story as scream it, demanding attention with every word.

The song crescendos with strings that swell and rage like a black metal orchestra from the abyss. In any other context, it might be kitsch, but here it’s just another layer of intensity, melding into the brutality like a natural extension of the chaos.

This is Cardinal Noire at their most visceral—brutal yet calculated, atmospheric yet devastating. It’s a perfect taste of what’s to come on their forthcoming album Vitriol, which promises to expand on these themes with even more sonic experimentation and conceptual depth.
