Zach's Picks

Zach’s Picks of the Week – OCTOBER 15, 2024 TO OCTOBER 19, 2024

What is going on everybody and who’s ready for some brand new music? We are back once again with the highlighted few articles that I hand picked for you off of our website. I like to call this segment, Zach’s Picks Of The Week!! I present your weekly dose of the best music on the Internet, at least in my opinion.

That being said, there’s always plenty more to go explore across our website so, go get stocked up. But if you wanna stick around and check out the links to each of these articles coming up in this post. You’re more than welcome to and I really appreciate you taking the time. So without wasting any more time, let’s get right into Zach’s Picks Of The Week!

Five

Let’s start our list off with Allegories, an electronic/experimental pop duo hailing from Hamilton, Ontario. Their latest single “Evaporate,” is a lush, romantic piece that harkens back to the group’s early days of obscuring their identities. Most would think that it’s a female vocalist who was singing on the new single “Evaporate” when in actuality the band conjured up a female popstar that they would credit as the lead cost and even go so far as to create social media accounts, connecting the persona. Hear the reason behind the new single here.

Four

Coming up next on our list is the highly anticipated second album from Halcyon Phase. Critical Misunderstandings On The Precipice is officially available now across all music streaming sites that you like. It was produced and recorded by Phillip Victor Bova at Bova Sound in Ottawa. The first single, “AI World,” dives deep into the modern anxieties surrounding technology and our connections with each other. The lyrics vividly express feelings of isolation and longing, with the refrain “I don’t want an AI world” serving as a striking reminder of the growing presence of artificial intelligence in our lives. Please go and check out the whole album and the video for “AI World” here.

Three

For our next recommendation, it’s Waterdown-based indie folk-rock duo Suburban Bicycle Gang, who joins us with the release of their latest single.  The song “Bud The Spud,” is a vibrant punk/rockabilly reimagining of the beloved Stompin’ Tom Connors’ Canadian country classic. This will mark a bold step in the band’s journey, showcasing their knack for genre-blending and energetic performances. Their rendition strips away the country twang and injects a high-octane dose of punk vigor, transforming the song into an anthem that pays homage to the original while standing firmly on its own. Go on and listen to the new single here.

Two

Runner up for my top pick of the week, it’s Canadian rock outfit BRKN LOVE. Sharing this new single entitled “20/20 Vision,” available across all streaming sites. Plus, it was featured on the new EA Sports NHL 25 video game, which is out now! This song was co-written by the band’s Frontman/lead guitarist, Justin Benlolo, producer Anton Delost, and Queens of the Stone Age’s bassist Michael Shuman. Just jamming live together in the studio, creating this fantastic track. BRKN LOVE comments this November, they will hit the road with label mates Dead Poet Society to give the Southeast of America some love. See the list of tour dates and the lyrical video within an article right here.

BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport

This week’s international recommendation brings us to Portland’s very own BEWTICHER, who has returned to take back rock ‘n’ roll with the new studio album. Spell Shock is out now on all streaming platforms, as well as a video for the title track was created by lucamainardi.graphics. It includes band footage by A. Magus and art direction inspired by Solomacello who created the stunning artwork of the album. You can check it out in our article right here.

One

My last recommendation for this week brings us to world-renowned country music hitmaker Aaron Goodvin. His latest single opens the door to a part of his life he’s never shared before, on the track “Yours Time to Stay.” You can find it now on all streaming and Goodvin has been performing the song during his shows across Canada and the U.S. Over the past few months he’s seen the connection it has made with his audiences. See what Aaron has to say about his new single here.

Thank you so much for checking out my personal choices from our website this week. There is much more to explore on Canadian Beats, so please be sure to follow us on all of our social media platforms. If you enjoyed one or even a few of these recommendations, please pass them along to your friends and family. They also deserve to enjoy the best brand-new music that Canada has to offer. However, that’s gonna be it for our segment this week so I hope we will see each other again. Be sure to spread that love and positivity in our world. But as always PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC EVERYONE!!
