APRIL ART TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, RODEO ON OCTOBER 4TH

Once more with attitude: April Art has set out to do nothing less than change the world. That may seem bold, true, but you know what: They have the songs to back this attitude. It’s a modern metal sensation like no other, emerging from the underground and led by sparkling front-woman Lisa-Marie Watz. In, fact, April Art has risen so rapidly in recent years that it could make you feel dizzy just by watching them.

Now, however, the time has come for the big leap, for their breakthrough.

Their third album Rodeo will be released on October 4th via Reaper Entertainment, unapologetically changes into the fast lane, speeding away from everyone else with huge hits, a brutal bite, and peerless power. Trigger warning: a German band hasn’t sounded this explosive, this hungry, this insatiable for a very long time.

The band comments:

“Rodeo is, as the name suggests, a really wild ride! The album has become incredibly versatile, from pure rock songs to numerous electro elements to nasty metal banging, everything is included. Nevertheless, we have managed to put our April Art stamp on every song. Thematically, everything is there: anger, sadness, despair, hope, love, joy. It’s an album as unpredictable and weird as this wild, crazy, beautiful, terrible, precious life.”

Pre-order Rodeo here.

First off, care to introduce April Art to our listeners?

We are a wild red power package making modern metal with some crossover Elements playing a energetic live show with a lot of positive Energy!

“Rodeo” has been described as a huge leap for the band. What was the creative process like while recording the album, and how did you approach evolving your sound?

We’ve played a lot live in the last few years and have thought about what is still missing in our live set and what we would like to realise. With this idea we started the writing process. We also wanted to bring more of our live energy to the record. Overall, the record sounds rougher and purer than our second Album Pokerface. We also paid more attention to the registers in which my voice sounds best and the songs are slightly lower in pitch overall.

“Not Sorry” is a powerful anthem of self-empowerment. What inspired the lyrics, and what do you hope listeners take away from this song?

I had a personal conflict with somebody else. And I came to the point where I asked myself: Am I wrong? And then i started to realize, that that wasn’t the only question. I started asking if I am wrong the way I am. In this moment I just wanted to write a song for myself that reminds me that I am good the way I am and never has to be sorry for my inner self.

You’ve mentioned that April Art are all close friends. How has this bond influenced your creative process and your ability to push through the challenges of the music industry?

I think that’s one of the main reasons why we work so well as a band. We can always rely on each other and if it gets too much for someone, someone else steps in.

We can also always talk openly about everything, we have no inhibitions about being vulnerable. Of course, that’s also great in the creative process, because you can write very intimate songs.

Lisa-Marie, you’ve been an advocate for breaking down barriers in the male-dominated rock and metal scene. What challenges have you faced as a woman in this industry, and how do you hope to inspire other female artists?

I think it’s important to understand that you are a role model whether you want to be or not. As soon as you’re on a stage, that’s the case. But for me it’s not only important to inspire other women and girls, it’s just as important that boys see women on stage and perceive them as something totally normal. Children don’t think about whether a woman or a man is standing there. And so boys can also have women as role models and it’s something totally normal.

April Art’s live performances are known for their explosive energy. What do you aim to convey to your audience during a live show, and how does that experience differ from what’s captured in the studio?

I think our live show is something where you can fully immerse yourself in the moment and forget everything around you. It is particularly important to us that we create a positive atmosphere and that everyone feels good. At best, you go home happy and satisfied after our concert, full of hope and energized.

Looking ahead, what are the band’s biggest goals for the next phase of April Art’s journey? What’s next after “Rodeo”?

Next up is our RODEO tour this fall. We’re really looking forward to finally playing our new songs live. One of our goals is to play more shows abroad so that we can also visit our fans outside of Germany.

And of course one of the biggest dreams is, that everyone in the Band can live entirely from the band.
