Brand New Single, “Southern Skies” Released By The Foreign Resort
The Foreign Resort’s latest single, “Southern Skies,” takes a dynamic approach, blending their signature rocking sound with subtle, yet persistent, shoegaze influences. That means fewer synths and programming and a straight-to-the-point song. This is the second TFR-song from their forthcoming album on Artoffact Records, mixed and mastered by Francesco Giuliano, known for his drumming and production with Italian legends HAPAX.
The lyrics are once again from frontman Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen’s personal universe, about what The Foreign Resort was for a long time: Escape from reality. Constant touring rather than dealing with the problems at hand. “Southern Skies” are thus any skies away from home. The single cover serves as an example: A photo taken out of the windscreen entering Utah from Colorado during one of TFR’s numerous US tours. It is important to stress that The Foreign Resort has always loved touring and still does. However, now it is not escaping, but rather the urge to get out and play their music live and meet their audiences.
And of course this is exactly what is happening this fall in three European countries. Here are the autumn 2024 tour dates:
October 18th – Oberhausen, Germany @ Cold Temple Festival Kulttempel
October 19th – Hamburg, Germany @ Logo
November 2nd – Hannover, Germany @ SubKultur
November 15th – Gothenburg, Sweden @ Oceanen
November 16th – Copenhagen, Denmark @ Basement CPH
December 13th – Chemnitz, Germany @ Aaltra
December 14th – Berlin, Germany @ Frannz Club

Formed in 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Foreign Resort has spent 10 years creating and honing an explosive yet melancholy post-punk sound that is as rich as it is exciting, and as immediate as it is dark and deep.
The band combines the shadowy mysticism of The Cure’s Pornography era with a driving production aesthetic akin to LCD Soundsystem. Intricate reverb-enveloped guitar lines glide over Steffan Petersen’s bass and Morten Hansen’s powerful drumming, all while Mikkel Borbjerg Jakobsen’s taut and sincere vocal delivery demands attention.
