First off, could you please introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Simone Denny. I am a pioneer in the Canadian Dance Music and House Music genre. I have toured across the US Canada and Europe. I am best known as the lead vocalist and frontwoman for Love Inc. Love Inc. is icon because the 1st dance music group to go platinum in Canada paving the way and breaking ground in these genres in Canada. I am also the voice of the original NBC /Bravo Emmy-winning hit series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I sing the Theme Song. All Things Just Keep getting better which reached # 5 on the US Billboard Dance charts.

You’ve had an illustrious career in dance music, and now you’ve taken a bold step into country with the new version of “Superstar.” What inspired you to reinterpret this classic track in a country style?

I love dance music and house music. It’s what I’m known for however but I do consider myself a multi-genre artist. I am very lucky to be able to float back and forth between different genres of music. My voice lends itself easily because my approach is… it’s all music to me. And I love it. I met Graham Trude during COVID-19. His manager at the time reached out about doing a vocal for  Graham on his song Home Crowd. It’s a rock and country high-energy fusion! Amazing track. We shot a video and Graham kept saying you need to sing country music. Right out the gate after that 1st recording session, he suggested it. He was very enthusiastic about it. I love country. I’ve always known the true origin of it so I was very open to the idea. Then Graham suggested we do Superstar in a country music style. I was like let’s try it! We actually recorded it and shot the video 2 years ago during the midst of COVID-19. Graham put his heart and soul into it and I think he did it justice. It sounds amazing!

The country version of “Superstar” has some fantastic instrumentation, including fiddle and dobro. How did these elements shape the overall vibe of the track?

The inclusion of fiddle and dobro in the country version of “Superstar” significantly shapes the track’s overall vibe by adding authentic country flavors and emotional depth. The fiddle introduces a warm, nostalgic tone that can evoke feelings of longing and celebration. Its melodic lines often weave in and out, complementing the vocals and creating a rich country sound.

The dobro, with its resonant and slightly twangy character, adds a layer of texture and a distinctive sonic identity to the track. It helps anchor the song in traditional country music while also providing a unique timbre that stands out in the mix.

Together, these instruments create a vibe that is both grounded in classic country roots and expressive, giving the track a dynamic and emotionally engaging quality that resonates with listeners.

Looking back at your career with Love Inc. and other projects, how does it feel to see “Superstar” evolve into a new genre and reach a different audience?

I am beyond thrilled to see Superstar evolve. It’s a song that fans have held close to their heart for 26 years. It’s an anthem that continues to deeply resonate with the fans.  I constantly receive emails and IG messages from fans worldwide thanking me. Thanking Love Inc. for this song. It has literally saved people’s lives so to extend that love through to country music really excites me and makes me happy. I hope to it gains new life and continues to touch the lives and hearts of people who love country music.

What can fans expect next from Simone Denny? Are there more genre-crossing projects or collaborations on the horizon?
