Old Soul has been electrifying Montreal’s underground rock scene since 2017, channeling the raw, rebellious spirit of the 60s and 70s to reinvent modern rock. Their youthful ambition and collective energy drive them to spark a rock ‘n’ roll revolution with every performance.
Old Soul will be performing at this year’s Gussapolooza in Cooksville, ON, on September 14 on the main stage.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers? Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
We are Old Soul. A four-piece Rock band from Montreal! We’ve been playing shows for almost 6 years and since then, we’ve released our debut album in 2023 and recently, a new single called ‘’The River’’ in May – It’s our first acoustic song and it has folk earthy vibes to it.
How would you describe your musical style to someone who has never heard your music before?
We’re a Psychedelic Rock band that draws inspiration from the 60s and 70s.
What does performing at a festival like Gussapolooza, known for its focus on emerging talent, mean to you and your band?
It’s great that festivals like Gussapolooza even exist! To give emerging artists a chance to shine bright in front of new ears is amazing. People get to discover and become fans of artists they otherwise would probably never heard of. The crowd at Gussa especially has been so receptive. There are a lot of hard-working people that make it all happen and it’s only been growing year after year. We’re super happy that we get to be a part of it.
What makes Gussapolooza different from other festivals?
It’s like Canadian Woodstock. You can camp out there for three days and let loose. Last year, we were blown away at how hippy and receptive everyone was to the music these were genuine people who were there, not just for music, but for all art!
With over 40 indie bands performing, how do you plan to stand out and make a lasting impression on the audience?
We’re gonna do our thing except, we’re gonna do it at Gussa!
Are there any specific bands or artists at Gussapolooza that you’re excited to see perform?
There are so many artists that we’ve befriended over social media that we’re excited to meet in person and see them perform live!
For fans who may be seeing you perform for the first time, what do you hope they remember most about your set?
Our energy!!!
What’s next for you after Gussapolooza? Are there any upcoming projects or releases we should look out for?
We’re always playing shows and we’re always writing. So it’s gonna be time soon to record some of this material for a new album we’re cooking.
