Riverfest Elora Day 1
August 16, 2024
Bissell Park Elora, ON
Celebrating its 14th year, Riverfest Elora showcased another amazing weekend of music and community. Even though rain affected the festival, as it did all of Ontario, the volunteers made sure everyone was safe and looked after. Happy 14th Birthday Riverfest Elora!
Peter Piper (Main Stage)
As has become tradition, Peter Piper has started every day of each Riverfest Elora weekend for over 6 years. Peter Piper is known throughout Wellington County, playing a mix of traditional and non traditional music on the bagpipes.
Nyssa (Main Stage)
First performance on the Main Stage. Toronto pagan-punk-poet Nyssa has put her hands into the lion’s mouth, gathering her performing and songwriting powers to conjure the unruly energy of rock n’ roll.
Thunder Queens (Koop Tent)
Inaugurated the Koop tent. Embark on a sonic journey of revelation in motion with Thunder Queens, the London, Ontario-based trio of Violet Bruneel, Lola Hayman, and Clara Magnan. Thunder Queens delivers a blend of doom-tinged grunge, onyx-toned punk melodies, and searing multi-part harmonies – all while creating a mesmerizing sound that is uniquely their own.
Nix & Menno (of Hollerado) (Grasslands Stage)
Got the party started on the Grassland Stage. Best friends Nixon Boyd and Menno Versteeg were neighbours in a small town just outside of Ottawa. It was 1997 and 11-year-old Nixon was learning guitar and had just met his new neighbour three doors down, 17-year-old Menno. Obsessed with Green Day, John Prine and certain that he knew all of the five chords that exist on guitar, Menno determined he was qualified to be just that teacher.
Bully (Main Stage)
A noisy indie rock band who deliver pop hooks with more than a slight grunge influence, Bully was founded by vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Alicia Bognanno. A skilled producer and engineer as well as a musician, Bognanno’s elemental guitar work complements the deeply personal, confessional nature of her lyrics.
Naduh (Koop Tent)
Filling in the industry Thigh-Gap, 5 Piece Femme powered Hip Hop/R&B group, NADUHaduh, writes, engineer, and Produce all of their music – meaning they have crafted a sound that’s truly representative of their collective energy. Spreading unity consciousness through R&B-infused beats that hit every chakra, laced with buttery-smooth vocals and herstorical lyrics.
Treble Charger (Grassland Stage)
Treble Charger spent the summer of 2000 touring with Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, and Our Lady Peace. In 2003, the band resurfaced with Detox, their most consistent material yet. And now, we get the very rare experience of seeing them live in Elora!
Violent Femmes (Main Stage)
Violent Femmes was formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their goal was to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet.
More than 40 years into their careers, Violent Femmes continue to attract young audiences on tour, create lasting music, and inspire people of all ages.
